Wow. For a few paragraphs there, you could have substituted "Chicago" for "Detroit." Embracing the fact that our communities are not islands, but part of a greater region is exactly what underlies the Millennial Mayors Congress.

I find the part about Obama's metropolitan approach - his "New Think" mentality - particularly interesting. What could that mean for our region, having a president who understands the metropolitan reality of economies? Reminds me of something I read about Obama, The Metropolitan Candidate, in the Washington Post during the campaign. Wish I could find it...
